What specific fisherman series are you looking at?
-619 2000-2006 are basically the same layout, 2007-2014 is when they changed the hull, flared out the front casting deck and the finishes are stainless steel compared to wood. Made the boat a little longer as well. IMO if you get anything 2007 or newer your in good shape. 2015 They switched to the FS model which has a redesign hull and interior.
-620 2000-2005 are basically the same. They changed the hull in 2007 which is considered the worst hull designed ranger created for rough water. If you look at them you can notice that they look more like a bass boat. That hull only lasted 1 year before they changed to the 08 hull which is a good hull. The 08 hull stayed the same until 2012 where they redesigned the interior and hull again. 2015 they changed to the FS hull

I have a 1999 620 and i think that was the last year the gas tank was in the bow. And it has 2 separate battery compartments all the way in the back on each side. I have 2 batteries in each compartment so the tank in the bow balances the boat out. I actually don't mind the tank up front...it helps it get up on plane pretty quick. If you have a full tank it does make it more difficult to trim the nose up if you need it but other than that it rides pretty good. Although i have never driven a new hull to compare. I went from a Lund to a Ranger so.

I have an 02 620vs the tank is in the middle of the boat w the batteries in the rear compartments its a fast boat w gear and 2 people low 60s according to gps. My only complaint would be splash from trolling at lower speeds into chop. Seems like it has a lot of bow slap.

I have an 1998 R93 Ranger and tank is toward the rear in it..not sure if this is similiar to what you are talking about but great boat so far...Will do low 60s on GPS with full tank and 2 guys full gear which is too much IMO...50mph on the water is plenty if you ask me and its amazing how well this boat handles rough water and just gets on a plane right now...Think I get some help there due to the 4 blade stainless prop seems to just grab hard and your out like a Fat kid in dodge ball

Is the hull design of the 619 different than those of the 620 & 621 of the same year?[/QUOTE
To keep it simple if you are looking at getting a 619 you cant go wrong with anything newer then an 07. Not saying the 06 and older are bad models, I just personally really liked the layout of the 07 and newer models and that's when yamaha first developed the 225 four stoke which the 2007 and newer models are rated for. The 619 had a different hull than the 620 and 621 for the same years. They are really good just don't have the keel that is brought way forward which makes it a smother rough water ride. The 619 kept the 07 hull all the way up to 2014 when the changed to the FS series.

I have an '01 620. The gas tank is still in the bow. Must have moved tank in '02.
I have an 02 619 and gas tanks fill in front of the windshield.
2 battery compartments in the back, one on each side. Which is my only gripe about the boat. I'm currently having a nightmare of a time wiring a stereo up because of it. Have no clue how they wired in for the original stereo once I get to the back compartment.

03-09 621s are closer to the water they changed them in 2010 and again in 14/15, 620 in 05-07 are closer, and more low slung, mid 08 they changed the 620, 619 hasn't changed that much until the FS series came out.
