Ok everyone im in the market for a new boat this spring, looking at the 2016 1750 or 1850 fishhawks with a merc 115 4 stroke or 150 4 storke (1850). If anyone has this setup i would be curious of what GPS speeds your getting and what prop you have. Any other reviews of the setup would be great as well

Im also looking into used fishhawks and im curious of what GPS speeds everyone is getting on what prop/motor/ year hull.

My understanding is the 1850s runs about 50mpg GPS and the 1750s about 40mph. Just looking to confirm that

Any other info greatly appreciated as well

I have an '04 1850 DC w/ a Honda 135 (~500lbs). I run 44mph on the GPS. With a diff prop I'd probably squeeze a couple more out of it.

Both of them are excellent fishing platforms. A lot of casting deck front and back. I'd recommend a deep net like the drifter XXL or Big Kahuna for working on fish boat side.

Good luck!

My concern is that the 1750 wont be quick enough for me (atleast in my head).... if anyone fishes redwing this time of year and is headed down i would live to get in the wTer with one of these before i buy

I thought for a long time that I would get an 1850 with a 150 4-stroke Merc. Everything I read said it would top out at 48-50 mi/hr.

I have a 2006 1750 with a 115 optimax. It runs a out 45 on the gps but i rarely run it full out. I like a comfortable 20-22mph, dry comfortable ride. If your in waves, you really dont want to run faster than that. If you want to fly, get a bass boat.

I have an 03 1850 fishhawk with a 140 suzuki 4stroke. Full load of gas and muskie gear for myself and another guy is +- 42 with a 19p prop. Gets out of the hole well and cruises really nice with this setup. I would think you would get a bit more out of that with a 150 merc. When I got the boat, it had a 23p aluminum prop and all by myself with the boat bare of trolling motor, trolling motor batteries and any gear I was getting 48-49, but that prop would have been way too much for how i am normally loaded. That 150 merc would be really nice on that rig.

My first boat was an 03 1750 with a 90 Merc 4s. That boat fished awesome, I miss it sometimes. With the stock 3 blade aluminum (don't remember the pitch) I would hit 35 fully loaded, Rarely ran WOT though.... That was one fuel efficient rig. The casting room up front was substantial, manufactured a platform for the back and it was one great boat.

My brother gas a 2001 1850 with a 115 Suzuki. It jumps up on plane and tops out at about 42 mph.
When he bought it a 1850 was only a few hundred more than a 1750 with the same motor, well worth it.

I have a 2008 1850, with a 150 Honda, on it.
I'm lucky to get 42 mph, with just myself.
I didn't buy it for speed, I bought it for the fishability, and the big front deck.
I like cruising around 28 to 30 mph. Only go full out, when I'm trying to beat a storm.

Boat prices are nuts. I waited and was patient and was able to find to good to be true deals. I can remember in 2002 when you could buy a 1750 with a 90 and basic electronics and trolling motor for under 13 grand. Your looking at well over 30 grand now.

2010 1750 FH, single console with a 115 ETEC HO. Runs about 35-37 on GPS, but I'm a pretty big guy. Stock Aluminum Prop. I typically cruise with the ETEC at around 28-29 though, much easier on the gas bill.

It fishes great. The advice above about a deep net is very good to heed if you are musky fishing out of this boat. It rides high so if the net isn't deep enough you'll have trouble keeping a big fish underwater. I used to run the Beckman and it was a struggle. The Frabill Powercatch works great. FYI.

On a low tank with just me in my 2013 - 1750 115 4stroke Merc, I can get to 42 MPH. It is a little slow for my liking since I was one of the slower boats in the Vermilion PMTT. Stock prop.

Hiya,

Not to hijack the thread, but Bucknuts, can you shoot me a message? I'm thinking something isn't right with your set-up if you are hitting 42mph as a max with just you in the boat. That motor is a great motor and should be putting you toward 50 to 52...

There are good deals out there to be had but as others have mentioned you need to jump on them. I bought a '13 1750 fish hawk last spring with 115 optimax, terrova, 899 Birds, I pilot, 2 Crestliner casting pedestals and flip down bench seat for 20k even. Motor had 30 hours on it. There is a pretty nice 1850 Raptor on Craigslist in Wausau Wisconsin for 21K i believe right now. Overall the 1750 is a great boat and i am on my second one. The flip down bench is awesome for family function as well creates probably the biggest rear casting option out of any boat that size. Top speed i can get is 42 mph but rarely run it wide open.

03 1750 with a Honda 115, best speed was right at 45 with aluminum prop. Only thing I wished it had was a bigger back deck, but I didn't have the flip seat option at the time.

400 hours is barely broken in.
When I sold my last boat it had at least 1500 hrs on the 90 Suzuki, ran like new.
Yamaha's website lists several 150s with over 6000 hrs.

I have had my eye on the boat below, I think that should get the job done. obviously nobody can tell me what I want just curious as what you guys think about this setup how it's priced with the options and how they are paired with this specific boat

This is my first real boat purchase, im upgrading from a 16ft flat bottom, and I really appreciate all the help everyone's giving me period I just don't want to end up with something that's not rigged right

2010 Crestliner 1750 Fish Hawk 115HP Mercury four stroke and custom roller trailer with spare and swing tongue. This boat is loaded for fishing with a 24V MinnKota power drive V2 trolling motor with I-Pilot and I-Link, Humminbird 898C Side image depthfinder with GPS, Stereo, Marine Band Radio, on board charger, very nice travel cover and a rear deck extension.
The boat will make a great fishing and family boat with enough power to pull skiers or tubers when the fish aren't biting.
With only 221 hours on the 115 4 stroke

That is basically the boat I run.

A few fun ideas for you:
1.) For pure musky fishing, get some Plano 3700s. You can fit 4 or 5 in the rod locker compartment. Makes tackle box needs minimal for less clutter in the boat.

2.) The rear panels on the back casting deck are hollow. You can remove the front of the one on the port side. I ditched the stock rod straps and installed the Rod Saver vertical holders (they have a rubber attachment) and installed them horizontally. Then I used a 3M super adhesive spray and a piece of neoprene foam I ordered on line, which was attached to the transom. This results in rod storage that will easily store 5+ 9' musky rods. When I do family trips I've had as many at 12-13 rods stacked and stored in here. (I wouldn't put that many in there while fishing.)

It's a great rig. If it's in your price range and does what you want it to do, buy it.

There's a comment about using the plano's for storage. There's no other way. In 2 minutes I can swap my whole boat out from muskies to any other species.

I put my plano boxes in the front compartments. You can also build a rear deck extension over the rear sear pedestals and have a ton of storage for boxes there.

I prefer puting rods in the rod box. I bring trolling and casting setups. Ni e to get whatever i am not using out of the way. Lights and telescoping rods go in the center rod locker.

Hiya,

Had a buddy of mine who owned a 1750 with a 115 four stroke on it just like the one you are looking at...it was a dog coming out of the hole... I worked with him on prop selection and nothing we tried could get that boat up and moving well. It did the job, but I felt the motor overall was way underpowered for the boat.

If memory serves me correctly, those were rated to 125 at one point and am not sure if that has changed.

Fishing out of the boat was nice, though...roomy and with a 70 pound thrust motor on the front, you should be fine. Get in really windy conditions and decent waves, though and a kicker to assist is not a bad idea if traveling into the wind...

I'll take a pic when boat comes back from the Marina. On newer models the panels are more flush to the sides and my idea will not work. I always hated how they extended out on my 2010 as I thought it was just wasted space. Then I came up with the rod storage idea and the space became a positive. The biggest boon is it keeps the rods out of harms way when there is a caster on the back platform.

I picked up the boat today. One weird thing is the on board charger runs off of the alternator and cannot be plugged into a wall outlet. Not super happy about that. I added a helix 7 with DI and GPS to the bow.

This boat has livewells everywhere. Although there is only one Live Well switch. Does anyone know if that's which will turn on all the live wells or if there's a way to only turn on one or two?

Switch turns on all of them, but there should be plugs for the incoming stream for each livewell which effectively diverts all water to the other livewell.

I'd change up that bank charger situation, especially if you're a muskie angler.

Congrats!

I wouldn't get rid of that charger. I would add an AC powered charger to your system. The alternator charger is great for keeping the TM batteries charged during a day's fishing.

I keep life vests in the left side front storage and put my plano boxes on the right side. I can usually get 7, 8 if i finagle it right on the right side. I think if you do that you could be well served adding a rear deck extension for extra storage.

Theres a rear deck extensi9n in there already, although it doesnt have any storage. And i do think i will add an on board charger rather than replace the one thats in there. I found a terrova for $700 so i have a good upgrade on the trolling motor. I ordered the ram mount for the bow unit so just waiting for everything to show up so i can get to building. Would like to have the maiden voyage this weekend.

I put my rods in the side rod compartment. Left front storage i put life jackets and i can get a couple plano 3700 boxes in there too. Right front, plano boxes. Center rod compartment, a throwable (if it is rough on the big pind, it is out) lights and any shorter telescoping or spinning rods if applicable. Side livewell shut off, misc stuff and hand wipes. Small storage in front of driver, planer boards and spare reels. Right rear storage rod holders.

I keep my release tools in a plano box. There are also two spots on the boat with a sheath, font and back that hold needle nose pliers. I also keep a file in one of them. The person i bought the boat from installed them.

You should be able to upgrade that charger to one that will plug into the wall. I have a Minn Kota 3 bank and it works great. It is in the hatch under the driver side console. That is also where I store my life jackets. The guy above with the in compartment lure storage, that looks really slick. My only question is rust, those compartments in my boat are not 100% dry so I'd be worried about rust over the long term.

I use my rod locker for storage. Will store 5 3700s. I end up storing 3 and a bigger plano with 7 pounders in it. All my blades and rubber in one place. I also store the lights in there. I've repurposed my side compartment with the rod storage option mentioned above.

For release tools I keep them in a pedestal pal. (Note, I do not have any pedestals in my boat, I jsut use the box as a handy way to haul a few baits, plus tools, gloves, and other goodies. I like having fast access to those tools. You never know when a fish is going to hit the bag and need immediate attention.

The biggest storage grip I have is where to put the net. If more than two are fishing it ends up being musical chairs. By myself it is a no brainer though.

Late to this inquiry. I run a 2003 1750-2002 Merc 115 2 banger. Merc stainless Lazer 22P. Fully geared up I run around 42 on GPS. T3, I like the graphics.
BradP.....could you shoot a picture of the port rear Panel removed for rod storage??
My only gripe with the boat is rod storage.....otherwise great musky platform.

Have an 1850 Fishhawk with a 150 Optimax and SS Laser II prop runs 48-49 2 guys/ musky gear/gas. Solo I've been 53-54 with wind blowing right way and not much in it. 24v 70 V2 on it now and just gave up recently, replaced with new Terrova. Put some good gel batteries in and it should last you all day.

Like others have said, good deals will come around, they always do. If you find something you like at a reasonable price, jump on it. The good ones disappear quick.

Also, don't be afraid to check listings further away from you. Sometimes you can find boats further south much cheaper. I got a boat last spring from a guy down in Missouri for probably $4k less than what i'd spend in MN

probably late to the posting but good info for anyone looking to pickup a boat

every fish hawk i've fished out of has been awesome
