Do you outdoor types ever pause momentarily in appreciation of some of the finer gear that you use? Things that make your life a little more enjoyable in the out-of-doors? Things that have exceeded your expectations and shown great dependability over a long period of time? Something that, even after a lot of use, you think, 'gosh, this thing is awesome'? A few for me: Tranx Striker Ice floatation suit Wool boot inserts HB 360 bow mounted sonar What gear stands out as exceptional and you wouldn't want to live without? Brian |

| The wool boot inserts strikes a chord with me. The first year I deer hunted, we set a record for coldest opener in central WI. 15 below zero at shooting time (1964). My hands and feet were so stiff neither would move by 9:00AM. Couple years later, Sorels became widely available and cold feet were pretty much a thing of the past. The clothing we have today for hunting and fishing is so good compared to what was available when I started, there is no comparison. If you are cold, wet, miserable, I don't care how fine your reel, rod or line is, you won't have fun. |

| I hate to admit it but the smartphone is a huge game changer.
real time weather updates (barometer, radar), check sun/moon rise/sets if you forgot them, access to satellite imagery and depth contours, get your GPS location, call home to tell your wife to put the pizza in the oven as you make your last cast, take pics of your fish, take release video, enter quick notes about the catch, etc. etc. and then check MuskieFirst to see what color cowgirl you should be throwing. |

Location: Grand Rapids, MI | Lexa 300 reminds me constantly how great magnetic cast control is on a muskie size reel. It continues to amaze me when I can hand it to someone that's never touched a baitcaster, give them a one minute explanation of how to cast and have them casting long, backlash free casts all day. Game changer!

TranX is the most durable and well built reel I have ever owned. That said mine sat in a compartment all of last season because I didn't hate muskies enough to put a 20oz reel on a custom rod. Not sure if the hatred will return. |

| A roll of two ply on the boat.
A high end reel, latest in electronics, or shiniest boat doesn't mean nearly as much as having a roll of two ply when you have to beach your boat somewhere to drop a deuce and the only alternatives are burning nettle and a patch of poison oak.

| 1. Stay Free maxi pads
2. Secluded islands
3. Roll of Charmin in the boat
1-3 Saved what could have been the worst day/week of fishing EVER...
4. Woman who is willing to deal with secluded islands, maxi pads, and Charmin in the boat as opposed to driving back 20 miles to camp and calling it a day/week
5. 45" musky that decided to crush her Topraider in the middle of worst #*#* day ever causing her to say "**** this, let's FISH!"
6. A flask. The glue that held #1-5 firmly together!
7. Crown Royal. Contents of said flask... |

| My Recon has been the best boat I've ever owned. I love my Shimano Calcuttas 400te and really enjoy the Lexa 300 great reel. But the one thing I'm totally gaga over is my St Croix Elite rod. Nobody is allowed to touch it. I can't believe how awesome that thing is to use. |

Location: Des Plaines, IL | For those with back issues, something that works for me is an inversion table (Teeter Hangup). Got one a few years ago and it's kept me playing sports and staying active through many a gweaked back and herniated disk.
So while not fishing related, that's a winner for me. |

| My Ranger is one for sure and followed closely by a Tranx and Big Nasty pairing... Those are a few things that just scream quality to me every time i fish. In the fall its definitely my Cabelas suit. (Really want to try the Striker suit though)I am hoping an Ulterra is the next item i feel that way about this summer. |
