| Anyone ever done this, or know if it's legal? Going up north in a couple days and may not be on lakes with campsites. I have a truck with a topper that I would sleep in if it worked out.

| If there is a Walmart nearby, most let you park in their lot overnight. |

| I know I've taken a few power naps during t-storms and such and haven't gotten the boot yet. If you're setting up the grill and brushing your teeth and what not I think they'll probably play some Ray Charles for you. Considered anchoring and sleeping in the boat? Did that once to, essentially a power nap again though. |

Location: MN | I think the no camping signs aren't referring to sleeping in your truck. I think it's setting up a tent and camping out. I've never been bothered sleeping in a truck at several different landings but then again maybe I've been lucky and haven't been there when a CO showed up. You could always call the local CO if you want to be sure but it's easier to ask for forgiveness than permission.

| I know plenty of guys here in Michigan that fish all week and sleep in the bed of the truck at boat launches and it's never been a issue. Now if you set up tents and a kitchen I can see a issue. |

This is true.. I have slept in the truck many, many times over the years with no problems.
Camping is defiantly not allowed.
On the other hand, I was startled about 4:00am once when I heard someone trying to get into the Boat... I already had the sliding back window open, so I grabbed the Glock 10mm and cocked it.... Man did those 2 guys take off FAST ! The only word I heard was Shnit !
Happened 1 other time at a rest area out west... You better be able to protect yourself if your sleeping at places like rest stops and boat landings. Just saying. |

| I think most Americans should be armed, to much in the world going on now days. I'd rather be a survivor then the victim. |

Location: 31 | I've been sleeping at launches with a motorhome/boat rig for the last 25 years with very few issues (other than noisy neighbors and trains). The only objections I can remember came from neighbors or vigilantes at the private/semi-private ones… as a matter fact; I don't think ever been hassled at a public boat launch. |

| The worst time for public launches is during ice fishing. I swear the ice brings out the best and brightest. Always some idiot parked in the way or the trash they leave all over the ice and launch areas. I don't understand it!!! |
