"Ski" seems like to be a Chicago thing.
Almost every Chicagoan I have talked to always says that they "stuck a ski" - |

| Tomato
Tomatoe
Musky
Muskie
Either/or works just fine.
A ski is something that you put on your feet to slide down the side of a mountain on. Or...to water ski bouys with in the Summer months. Or...on the front of a snowmobile.
Has the human race become so lazy (due to technology) to not want to bother pronouncing full words since they no longer type out full words anymore these days? I mean...c'mon...how difficult is it really?

Tomatoe isn't a word!
Was going for the pronunciation of the word tomato.
Let me re-try with phonetic spellings:
- Toe-may-toe
- Toe-ma-toe
That better?
Muskie and Musky are pronounced the same, different spellings based on geography or personal bias.
Splittin' hairs here...

In my boat, that line would have you swimming back to shore.
Have a friend I've known for decades who is like that. EVERY GD THING is abbreviated. |

Location: Grand Rapids, MI | It's really simple... Musky - Def. of or having a smell or taste of musk, or suggestive of musk. Muskie - Def. The muskellunge. 1. A muskie can a little smell musky but a muskie is NOT a musky. 2. A muskie is NEVER a ski.

Somebody should tell the guys over at Musky Hunter...
I'd also add that it is never appropriate to use the term "Muskellunge-o" or refer to the net as "the Frabill" Two more things that will get you thrown out of my boat. In fact...
This should make for an entertaining topic all on its own... |

| 'Ski Is what I use when typing on the tablet/casual usage or need to abbreviate, Muskie is for general posting/usage.
I've heard two very well known guides refer to their net as "The Frabill", but I call it "The Net", even though it is a Frabill
No, I'm not from Chicago and yes, you can use ketchup on a hot dog unless you ARE from Chicago.
Never heard anyone use Muskellunge-o but it wouldn't bother me if you did.
People who look down on or criticize others for what they call things are "snooty" or "elitist snobs" unless they are kidding/joking.

RandalB I'm not looking down or criticizing, just curious. I just remember a time when I didn't hear "ski" or "toothies" but maybe they've always been called that and it was just before the internet. And some people are lying in this poll because "ski" and "toothies" are used in abundance on FB, which is fine as well...I just didn't know if I was the last guy, along with Will who called them muskies. |

Dope
I believe "Slingin' 10's with a Tranny and a Croix" would be considered "dope", eh?
How about we just shut up and fish?
Rod. Reel. Muskies. Or just plain "fish"...
Guess I'll never fish with Gillespie...

| I believe it's getting worse with texting these days. My 12yo will say jelly (jealous ), totes (totally ), what evs, welks (your welcome) and some other crap I have to have him repeat and or explain.
When I was a kid, "rad"and "savage" and perhaps a few others im too old to remember, were the normal slang of the day.
