After a year with lots of 50"+ skis on Livid Fish, we listened to the people using our lures and produced these new color patterns. Heck even our customers named them....seriously.

Hey it will be a great show! We should not call it the Milwaukee show anymore, you would be surprised how many people still think it is there despite the great job the promoters have done to advertise. I will be there but at this point it looks like I will need to be in disguise, won't be the guy with a Mario brothers hat, glasses and fake nose.

OK, a bit local knowledge....Going North from Milwaukee 41/45 splits to form a Vee with 41 heading NW towards Oshkosh and 45 N to West Bend. Cabelas is right in the very crotch of that Vee and you can see it coming. Either take the 45 choice, stop at Cabelas first, or keep N to the Pleasant Valley Rd exit where you will clearly see the fairgrounds. Coming from the North, don't go down to the crotch unless you want to go to Cabelas. Cut across Hwy 33 East and then down 45 S from West Bend. Oh yea, if you think I'm going to be this helpful with Pewaukee Lake.......FAHGEDABOUTIT. PS Sorry about the crotch reference, but check the map...nuffsaid!

The Chicago show has always been held in a Chicago suburb, just like the Milwaukee musky show, which was held in West Allis. West Bend is not a suburb of Milwaukee. Hope this helps.:-)

Although in a suburb, good point! Who would go see the Jersey Jets? The bears didn't call themselves the champaign bears a few years ago and they were not the Milwaukee packers when they played at county stadium. Add to that, no one from Minnesota can explain where the twin cities are located, we can call it the Milwaukee Musky Show no matter where it goes!:-)

West Bend is still an outer Suburb of Milwaukee... don't let the guy from IL tell you it's not.... Take advantage of stopping in at Cabela's too, which you will pass on your way to the show and is only 5-7 miles away.

So I stand corrected, I Googled what "is" the Milwaukee metropolitan area. West Bend is in it. So is Kewaskum, Lake Geneva, Genesee Depot, Watertown and Beaver Dam. Fox Lake! Madison might have some things to say about a few of them.:-). Milwaukee is taking over your state it appears, be careful, you may find yourself in a Milwaukee suburb soon!:-)

Having said that this will be a great show, it is run by great people.

the only other one on your list that I would agree with in being a suburb is Genese Depot... none of the others.. However West Bend is in Washington County and Washington County butts up against Milwaukee County.... so to me that is a suburb. next county over from that... I would say not a suburb...

only 3 more days now!

There's some good eats and drinks to the south of the expo ( not familiar yet with the area right by the expo)

Down in Hubertus there's 2 places across the street from each other, Johnny Manhattans (upscale but real good) and SLoppy Joes. Bilda's Friess Lake Pub has really good affordable food and a great tap list too..also to the south

There is a Texas Roadhouse and a Buffalo Wild Wings about 2 miles to the north in West Bend. If you head a little farther into downtown West Bend there is the Brazenhead Pub(they have a killer reuben),and the Riverside Brewery and Restaurant which has good food and a solid beer selection. There is also a place called Longbranch Saloon further into the city that's worth a stop. Two other places worth mentioning in the downtown area are Cafe Sourette and Krimmer's Restaurant. They are more upscale and may not have the game on, but the food is great. Hope this helps!

Fat Bastards were pretty much gone in 3 hours. At the end of the night they are down to probably 15-20 Cannonball and Cannonball JR'S left. The line was ridiculous for the first few hours.

I got there about 2:30 and even though I didn't need any more Fat Bastards, I was still curious to see what show colors they had.I just had to keep walking as there was no getting neer the booth anyways.Next booth over I was glad to see Kramer Bros. windowmakers.Even though a bit further I really liked the show and even though there were signs about the second room I still seen many people asking if this was it and where was R+H musky Shop lol,but I think everyone eventually figured it out.

Todd
How come the New York Jets and Giants play in New Jersey!!!!

Twin Cities are about 300 miles north of the Quad Cities by road
a little further if you choose to take the river

I always enjoy Junkman's posts, in part because of his self deprecating sense of humor. Apparently not all get it. I on the other hand laughed out loud I when I read his post.

You should go play with Sled and 0723 in the basement, you'd have a good time.

I attended the Milwaukee Muskie Expo on Friday, having taken off quite a few years from when it was in West Allis. This new venue has brought a LOT of much needed energy to this show!!! It was much better than what I remember from the West Allis venue. The show seemed revitalized, with energy that it didn't seem to have before. I wasn't looking for anything in particular, but still managed to head home with a sack full of treasures.

Job well done!!

Hey no worries guys! I happily relinquish any need to have my humor understood! The far, far greater joy is knowing that in being a fat bastard (which I used to feel a little ashamed about) I have now achieved the kind of admiration folks wait in line to behold. Now, I'm waiting with even more trembling for the next bait, "lazy bastard." When that becomes a hit, I will have achieved two legs of the Triple Crown, needing only "dirty" to vindicate a lifestyle of not even getting off the couch to wash every week or so. This bait company is about to vindicate my very being. Thank you!

Fat Bastards were pretty much gone in 3 hours. At the end of the night they are down to probably 15-20 Cannonball and Cannonball JR'S left. The line was ridiculous for the first few hours.

I don't typically attend the Milwaukee show. Actually, it's been a couple years since I've bothered to go to ANY show. So, forgive me if something has changed since I was a regular participant. But are you telling me that most of the crowd blows out of the show in a couple hours? Is it empty after that? Who is left? Have the metrosexuals taken over the musky shows while I was not paying attention? Did I miss something? If all the fat bastards are gone... Is there still a show at all??

I went today the show is much bigger. Rollie and Helens had an entire Isle and as one person put it, what's in their store?

Not sure I have ever seen so many bucktail makers with a booth and never seen so many booths with musky flies. Some real artwork there. All cool to.see.

Of my purchases I bought some giant krushers from the booth that makes them. Just curious if anyone else bought one and what you were charged.

I was there on Friday. Not quite when the doors opened, but early enough to get the baits I wanted.

I really enjoyed the show, so did my wife. We felt like there was more room. People were spread out and it was easy to get around.

Some of our highlights were...

JustEncase. Wife bought herself a great tackle box. What a great company. I'm putting in an order for my box shortly.

Tamarack Lodge. I've been looking for a new camp. I think I found it. Todd was very friendly and open about his camp. I'll be booking our 2017 trip soon. And if I can swing it, a short 2016 trip.

Team Rhino. Their booth was a zoo. But what a great group of guys. Got some great customs to try out.

Shimano booth. Got to feel the 400D. Will be picking one up shortly. Great to hear an expert talk about their reels.

Llungen. Man, did I pick up a great bucktail. Shocked that they were still on the shelf. Hope the rest flew under the radar too.
Milwaukee Muskies Inc. Got my yearly calendar. Picked up some pink blades for the wife.

And many, many others. Totally worth the extra drive.

Geoff, you will like Tamarack, great location instead of having to run quite so far from some of the others. Only complaint I heard was from a few of the vendors that got stuck in the 2nd building. That's never good to split like that, from a vendor's standpoint, and apparently many customers did not know of its existence or didn't bother to go to the second building. But otherwise pretty good reviews.

Hey, about Tamarack....is the Lakemaster Chip pretty accurate? I was told that most of the guys that fish there take their own boats and I admit to being overly cautious with my boats in new water. If the chip is accurate, though, and the docks are protected enough to where bumpers take the rash and not the boat, then I think I'm out of excuses......

Can't really say about Lakemaster, I have the Navionics and for running from spot to spot and back to camp at Tamarack it's pretty good and from what I've heard Lakemaster is at least equal if not better. The chip and good set of Canadian maps and you should be fine. I've been going up to Tamarack since the very early 2000's. I love the place and Todd and his family are some of the nicest people you'll ever meet, it's a great place and I highly recommend it.

Accurate as can be. We have both chips on old units and when you get west onto the 6215 paper map the navionics gives out. You won't have any navigation issues. His docks are good and he puts your name on your spot to reserve it. Just bring a couple bumpers.

Thank you all very much for the replies about Tamarack. I'll be booking 2017 shortly. Then I'll be trying my best to see if I can get a couple days in 2016 to go try it as well.

I liked the new venue... I was there on Saturday, and went to the swap afterwards. LOL- a bit of confusion there, including an idiot with a vulgar mouth, with kids & women present. He was lucky he didn't wind up doing the "Chicken Dance" on the floor. I got "Elwood" at the swap....I was hooked when I saw him!

Yes, I give my big fish lures masculine names... "Pretty Boy Floyd" is sitting in ~15FOW in a Shield Lake, I'm going to recover him with scuba gear this year and also retrieve my Apple iPhone 5s -LOL!

Added two pretty offerings to my Slammer collection, despite SVL's best efforts to steer me away from them!

Also really liked the J.Bo Baits, really pretty, look very rugged..fortunately he's just 40 minutes away, so I have access to their lures other than the show, really nice young couple who are destined to be a force in the muskie lure industry..

Sat in on Bill Schawtz's & Spencer's seminars.....enjoyed both. The free parking was nice!

Thanks for a good show....

ToddM- Did you see the big bump board? Stilll not big enough to put the "Fat Bastard" on though...sorry I missed seeing you.

Have fun!

I guess it's not hard to tell what my fav's are... I bought doubles of half of these. I love customs, although I still find myself throwing solid black and walleye 90% of the time, I still like to have those rare colors in my back pocket. Suppose I should share a picture of the whole assortment of custom Dawgs and Dussa's one of these days. We all have our fancies...

Shout out to Team Rhino and Rick Albers for the creativity and making these available. Awesome stuff.
