Does anyone know when the new PMTT schedule will be out? I'm thinking of signing up this season.

If their trying for any Minnesota lakes,,, tournament permits usually get processed between xmas and new years week. I think they have to wait to see that they do have the permit.

2016 schedule is available. Looks like qualifier #3 TBA. Good to have dates to make other plans.

You know..we have visited a lot of those lakes in recent years: Tonka, Leech, Mille Lacs, and Vee just last August. And I, for one, love to go as well as seeing the biggest fish ever even though (I know) I didn't catch them on tournament days. But fishing there doesn't exactly fit the PMTT format for tournament days or judging. I think, for the most part, we've been going more lately and I hope it continues.

Marty, How does fishing MN. lakes not fit in with the PMTT format ?
Is it because the Tournaments are held on Fri-Sat. ? What's the difference ?
And not having Judge Boats is another option that will save the PMTT money in the long run.
Just asking.

No question I like your water Jerome, and weekend fishing only matters to guys who have to take days off work, clearly not used up guys like us. And, there's nothing wrong with the judge boat formula either , you just can't wait around in MN and not be in possession. If you know me, I'll fish with anybody's rules, anywhere there is contest, anytime. I just know my day will roll around. In the meantime the PMTT is what we got, and it's pretty darn good too, and since I'm not the guy investing my time and money putting on a tournament, I figure the guy who is can pick his lakes. I sent in my trail team entry today.

Marty, are you fishing with Shamless again this year ?
I would have liked Cass Lake this year.
I think "most" guys would want to take an extra day off.... After all Muskie season up here is only 7 months. Work overtime more.

I wish I could tell you about that big Irish guy, so far he's hard to convince. I'm still hoping though. Otherwise I'm going to have to find another partner who is willing to catch all the fish for me! Not the best stick but never missed a net job.

Everyone,
Starting in 2016, all PMTT tournaments will be CPR, catch, photo and release, no judge boats at any of the qualifiers and the championship. The website is being redone and updated right now to state these changes and the brochures at the sport shows already have this info in them.

We've done without the judge boats in Minnesota, and I've heard no complaints. The cameras are better today, and the ability for tournament officials to see whatever they need to see to verify the accuracy of the photos is also plenty good enough. If a cheater ties up a fish somewhere, no judge would help with that anyway. Honestly, there are a few rotten turds out there who will cut you off, hog the spotlight, and generally fail to recognize that some really great anglers just can't catch em in a PMTT event (humm), but really..................I pretty much think (turd or no turd) this is a very honest and honorable bunch who don't cheat, wouldn't cheat, and wouldn't hang around with those who do. I'm not a bit worried about the format change.

The only comment I've heard has been concerned with a "good release", where 10 bonus points use to be given for a good release.

There is still a ten point deduction for a fish that dies, as well as, the contestant who caught the fish will be done for day.

I doubt if either of these will impact the tournaments. And, I agree with Junkman about "honest and honorable bunch".

YIPPEE! It's April, just three weeks from tomorrow and only fifteen boats in front of us, we'll have a belly full of great bar-b-que and it's off to GLORY (or maybe the restroom at Clay Lick!)

A week from today (SWEET) team 16 will hit the practice water down at Cave. I'll also have along one of the new, green, Legend Elite musky sticks from St Croix to pass around. Just flag me down on the water, and take the rod for an hour or so for you and your partner to try, then return it so I can give it to the next guys to try Wed, Thurs, or Friday. (just pay no mind to where we are fishing---that won't be our spot---we'll only be there so you can see us---not a real spot---there are no fish there)

Hey Folks, Getting close to the PMTT OPENER @ Cave Run Lake and I wanted to give a little bit of a prod to those who got jumpy after the Record Flooding last season and might be looking out the window at ice & snow; waiting for a chance to get your "Hunt On!"... WELL, things are mighty different this go round. Steadiest weather in months is settling in with a 7-day forecast that will knock your socks off coming into that FULL MOON Friday night.... I'm gonna be heading down earlier than expected to take advantage off the 70 & 80 degree days, get some sun, visit with some of my good friends and FISH MY ARMS OFF! hahahaha...
There is still room for Cave Run, Eagle River and the MAD CHAIN.... so don't delay; you have ONE WEEK to get your Team registered.
Have a safe and memorable season my friends and if there is anything I can do to be of assistance getting you on "The TRAIL".. just give me a shout - [email protected]
Thanks

Can't Wait.
