Metro Action?

I am about to do the most Taboo thing imaginable and ask/talk about recent action. I have fished local metro lakes recently and have had varying results.

On Friday, we fished a from about 8:00 am till 3:30 pm. Wind was somewhat strong out of the NE/E and we moved fish on the deep edge on the west side of the lake for the most part. All fish were hot and lost on in the 8 that shook loose after a few seconds before we could net her that was about 47".

Today, went back out and found the fish to be a little more shallow. Moved a 52" + and 3 others in less than 10 ft.

I am guessing that this is not going to get anywhere with how tight lipped we can all get, but just sharing a report. I wish I was able to get out with the cloud cover tonight as moonset was late afternoon and I think the fish were maybe ready to go.

How has everyone else been doing? Feel free to PM me instead.....

Tony

I was out on Tonka Saturday afternoon/evening. Only had 1 attack a shallow raider in about 5 ft of water right at sunset. It completely missed it and came straight out of the water which was pretty cool. Threw cowgirls, shallow raiders, and gliders without much success.

I had most of my weekend action on shallow sand/docks but saw other boats catch a couple on the deep edge at the same time. I'm still checking shallow first tonight when I go out.

Missed two on Tonka last Monday. One hit a top water in 20 feet of water, hit right near the boat with no followers in sight so it caught me off guard. Also had a really nice one chase a bucktail up to the boat. Wind was really bad and I couldn't properly execute a figure 8. Only fished 4 hours that night and saw two nice fish.

heard people are seeing a lot of fish on tonka.... they're just not eating. I'll be putting in 2 full days on Indy Sunday/Monday. Let me know if you're out there and we'll tag team.

On a side note, grouse numbers seem pretty good statewide lol

Boated a 46" Thursday. Deep edge, only fish we saw all day. Fished 2 pm - Dark. Figured the clouds/wind would have them moving, but not so much.

Nice - Surprised they were moving with the warm weather today and makes sense that you had action during last light of day. I usually struggle in the fall when I get a hot (80 degree) day after water temps have been on the decline. Hoping to get out again this Thursday and/or Friday. I will once again post a report.

Nice! I'm heading out there tomorrow. Were you working slow or fast? I'm thinking of attacking it slow with dawgs, cranks, and jerks.

Trying to put my bro-in-law on his first. I've had him out there twice over the summer and he came close on a mid 40's on the west end. It rolled over an electric bunny, but didn't eat for whatever reason.

One 43" on Minnetonka today. 5 feet of water in current neck down area as winds were blowing this AM. Buddy had a true monster ( well over 50") on a jig in Crystal Bay as well. Fish was near one of the channels. Came unbuttoned as I was gonna scoop it up. True heartbreaker fish as it would have crushed his PB.

Slow on Tonka this morning. Saw one very lethargic 40 incher in 5 fow. Pretty much just laid there. Got him to follow a monster medusa around the eight a couple of times but wouldn't go no matter what I tried. 53 degree water temp. Buoys were being pulled today.

A few years ago I used to go back and forth from the end of the grass island, to the end of the finger off the main island the whole time I would be out there. Sometimes shallow, sometimes off the break. There always seemed to be fish there, so I never fished any other spots, just waited them out and eventually they would get active. Haven't fished the fall out there in a few years though, so no idea if that would still work. Jerkbaits, Bulldawgs, and suckers all worked.

Haha tell me about it. That was my first time there in 2 years. Used to fish it a lot. I always either caught 1 or a couple with a ton of follows sprinkled in, or didn't see a thing like Sunday. Still beat the hell out of sitting on the couch.

Was out last Sunday, 11/15/15 (sorry for the late response) soaking suckers and throwing gliders. Tough day! Had a rip on a big sucker right away around 9:30 am and my buddy, "musky45" stuck this 43".

Had a little one (high 20" fish) take a whack at my manta hang 10, but no hooks.

No other takes on the suckers (except for a northern). Slow day fishing 8am-6pm for only two rips on the suckers.

Have to thank Adam Glickman (honestmusky.com) for showing us the ropes using suckers!

Was out on Tonka trolling 3 of the last 10 days. I was there last Wednesday for the prime mid day bite. Brought 2 young kids along and ran 3 lines. Two out the sides, one in the prop wash. Stayed with 10" Jakes and 12" Grandmas, threw in a 14" crank for a while. Only fish I saw was when a kid had to pee I shut the motor off to hold on to him. While doing that I see a fish looking at one of the lures. I couldn't let go of the kid to grab the rod, the fish made a big splash and swam away. Not the first time Ive had a fish hit while stalled so I've found a new tactic. I've done well trolling in the past just not this season, not sure why.
