Good luck on the water tonight.
Just a heads up. The U.S. Coast Guard has been doing saftey checks on the river this spring. So make sure you have the required equipment in the boat. Life Vest's, Throwable, fire extinguisher and horn are some of the required items.
you should also have the registration stub as well as current registration with you.

Post here if you are looking for partners as well.

Thanks

Steve

I'm a new member/ long time fisherman just not muskies looking to find a partner for 6-27-2015 the chapter picnic day? I have a boat but would prefer to fish the first time or two with an established member in their boat to better understand equipment set ups and technique choices. Please PM me if your looking for a partner for that event.

Since this now reads like a personal add: New member who is handy with a net, looking for established North metro chapter fishing partner for 06/27/2015.

^^^^Hear that^^^^ Will be casting from shore with my dad and daughter. Do a few casts and then hammer a few smallies, sunnies, sheephead, rock bass, and whatever else decides to bite. Should be a nice night out there, anywho! Good luck, boys! Bald Eagle next week, can't come soon enough!

Ha, if we add a point for each on-the-water establishment visited during league hours Geno would defend his title for sure. That might even be enough incentive for some of you east guys to head west during the Minnetonka weeks.

Good luck to everyone out there tonight, hope someone gets a great big one.

Proposed schedule change of the Mini Challenge. The July 7th proposed day is a board meeting night for the Twin Cities Chapter. Some of the participants have a schedule conflict. July 14 is the new date recomended.

Update-Change has been made to July 14th for the Mini Challenge with the T.C. Muskies Inc Chapter.

Week 1 update- St Croix River - 15 people fished the river on Tuesday with Jason Wegwerth catching a 38" muskie.
It was an awsome night on the water with several other reports of hits and multiple follows.
Week 2 Bald Eagle and Lake Independence next Tuesday- hope to see you on the water.

Good Luck

Anyone do anything last night out west or on bald eagle? Struck out on BE last night. Saw one decent fish...thought they would show themselves a little more than they did. Last night felt "fishy." :o)

guy's,
looking for someone to give an old man a ride. Tommorrow night. His walker should not take up much room in the boat. He still has one good eye and some hearing in one ear- Answers to Dave.
Enough messing with Dave at this time. He is looking for someone with a little room tomorrow night.
Dave is on the board with a 41.5" from last week on Bald Eagle. Dave lives on the lake and will probably return the favor next time around. He is a good fisherman and knows many of the metro lakes. Long time member of the North Metro Board.
his number is 612-840-5686

Thank You

Steve

Standings update
After 2 nights here are the standings

Jason Wegwerth 33
Nick Poppler 31
Dave Brockel 26.5
Ben Limpert 24.5

Jason caught a 38" on the St. Croix,
Nick caught a 41" on Bald Eagle
Dave caught a 41.5" on Bald Eagle
Ben caught a 38.5" on Bald Eagle

No fish were caught on Lake Independence last week but only several boats were on Indy-- Again this year the turnouts have been very good.
Remember to send me an e-mail reporting back that you fished a night.

If you are looking for partners I posted one above. This message board works very well for finding partners and sharing rides.

Next Up- Waconia, Rush or any metro tiger lake( a new twist to our league this year).

Good Luck

If the log is accurate looks like someone got 2 43's on rush last week, not sure if they were league fishing but I'm assuming so. I only managed a low teens follow last week and my partner lost a squirrely tail in the eight.

Well it was a good night to be out on the water nonetheless, even if only a couple TC fish were caught. My partner and I tried to play defense for the chapter and spent the last half of the night doing donuts around the TC chapter boats but they managed a few fish anyways. It was a great time at Rudy's afterwards, and thanks to Sorgy and the TC guys for making it happen.

Will be around the "Freight House" area of the Croix.... for those who haven't fished this particular spot it can be enjoyable...After a Week on Sab I have to ease back into league slower than normal.

Here are your top 10 for the year so far.

Member rank/points fish caught
Mike Watzl 88 pts 46, 44
Nick Poppler 71 pts 41, 35,
Jason Wegwerth 48 pts 38,
"Geno" Genosky 40 pts 0
Pat Garaghty 39 pts 43,
Chris Dolan 38 pts 38,
Jason Espedal 38 pts 0
Andy McClure 35 pts 0
Steve Sorgenfrei 35 pts 0
Joel Eberle 31 pts 43
So far there have been some nice fish caught. Congrats go out to Mike Watzl for his 46 and 44 inch muskies. Some very nice fish for league.
We have tonights and next week to put a wrap on this years league. Participation is up on both sides of the town.
tonights option is Rush Lake, Waconia or the St. Croix River. Good Luck. this cool rain should bring the temp down to acceptable fishing temps- the rain forcasted for tonight doesn't look good.
For next week the option is out there to fish Bald Eagle, White Bear, Minnetonka or Indy. A hot bite could let someone close the deal on Mike Watzl.
I am going to have the final league wrap up party at Rudy's Red Eye Grill in White Bear Lake. Plenty of parking in back.
We will have appetizers instead of pizza- It worked out well for the mini-challenge with the T.C. chapter.

Good Luck

Steve

My night went as planned.... Took the wife and Kids bowling because of the rain, cast from shore. Hit up the new toy store in DT Stillwater for the girls, and had a few Lift Bridge Farm Girls and a 1/2 rack of ribs. I think my fam enjoyed league night more than me this time.

Mike Watzl leads with 2 fish caught that are the 2 largest so far this season 44 and 46 Inches.

Well. I tried my best to get a fishy during this league. Had a +50 on at the 5th cast of the evening only to come unzipped with a hook straightening. had another beauty blow up sending my bait airborne as well as the fish. All on topwater.. didn't see anything else. Hope you all had a good evening as the weather and water temps were fantastic.

What a fantastic league we had this year. 58 different people fished an event. 29 people fished 2 or more events.
We had 17 muskies caught including a nice tiger in the league.
Stay tuned for a more polished write up on the league and when we will offer up the prizes and trophy.

Congrats to Mike Watzl he caught a 41.5" fish on the last night to add to his point total. He even had 50" class fish jumping over his bucktail on the river.

thank you everyone for participating in our league and if you were a guest of a member consider joining the North Metro Muskies Inc chapter.

I think Mike should be the next speaker. Give or take he averages a fish every 8 hours. Who can make that claim? Couldn't have happened to a nicer guy...he was always the first person to speak to me at a Banquet or meeting noticing that I was new.
