Location: MadCity Wisconsin | For the 15th Annual Muskie School to be held next March 2016 we are considering a voluntary exam. The exam would have several questions relating to knowledge of muskie fishing. Those who pass the test would receive a certificate, patch or maybe a baseball cap. We may or may not decide to do this next year.
We are requesting that you, as avid muskie anglers, provide maybe 3 questions that should be on the potential exam. We realize that some questions may be subjective or debatable.
We have around 10 questions completed at this point.
Thanks for your input!

Do muskies school and if so do they school according to size?
Where do muskies spend the majority of their time?
On an average fishing day how often do muskies get active and for how long?
The term open water has been tossed around for some time, is there any truth to muskies (in numbers) being caught in areas with no structure? |

| What environmental factors must be provided in order to allow for natural reproduction?
Water temperature question where you give certain temperature ranges and then ask for behavior and or location changes that could be expected for said temperature/weather event. |

| The questions on exam depend upon what is taught in class. You can't ask questions on general knowledge items or specific items unless it is taught in the classroom setting. |

| 1. Describe what "seasonal migration" entails, and what that might mean for how and where you would attempt to catch a musky at different times of the year.
2. You have a musky in the net. As you reach in to unhook it, it thrashes and sends a hook into your hand. You are hooked to the fish that is tangled in the net. Now what? What might you have done to prevent this from happening?
3. List 5 items you should never leave the dock without. |

Location: Otsego, MN | My advice is for the people giving the exam. Give a multiple choice test or something much easier to grade than a written essay style answer. I think an essay would better show the "students" knowledge but with the size of the school it would be far too much work for all of those essays to be graded. Just my opinion!
Great idea! |
