Thought this may be a interesting topic....during the late season, at what WATER TEMPERATURE would you say is the prime temperature to hook a fall giant, regardless of lure or live bait presentation?

well if "giant" is in terms of weight...as close to ice-up or closed season as you can get... most of the added weight is eggs, so the closer you catch them to spawn the heavier they are

Getting a good fall big fish "bite" ....follow the baitfish migrations, perch often go shallow in September, Shad may go to current or deeper holes depending on the system... on lakes that have cisco's 38-44 degree water temps are prime as they are fall spawners. Big Muskies follow the forage. No one answer for your question.

31 degrees in flowing river water! But usually anything in the 30's is good.
