I am finally starting to find my way around up here in the mountains and I can honestly say that Ive never seen so much natural beauty in one place. Every time I turn a corner my jaw just about hits the ground. We finally got around to exploring some of the trails this afternoon...I didn't think I would get into the hiking thing too much, but after being out there for a while I can't wait to get back. We were up around 9000ft hiking around a pristine lake with a waterfall cascading down from nearly 12000ft. I turned a corner on the drive back and nearly hit a golden eagle that was flying around the bend coming towards us at eye level. I still can't get over how big those things are...especially when they are less than 10ft away and staring straight at you. Nature is truly amazing when you take the time to slow down and look around you.

I suppose I should add a bit of fishing stuff, seeing as this is a fishing website and all. Got a chance to hit the water with a few guys while I was back in the midwest for a few days. I realized that its not the muskies that I miss so much, but rather the time that I get to spend with friends and family while chasing these toothy critters around. We got a few smaller fish while in WI and missed a few nice fish while spending a few hours on the water in MN...I was definitely asleep at the reel a few times or else we would have had one heck of an evening. A few more weeks and I will finally be on LOTW with my bro and another one of my best friends. I can't wait to be in the middle of nowhere and get a chance to sit back and enjoy my favorite place in the world.

Ill get back just in time for school and football season to start up. I'll definitely be taking Kevin's advice to hit up the Packer bar in Boulder. I found another bar in Downtown Denver that is a Wisco bar. Ill be spending a few days holed up in that joint when the Brewers are in town in a few weeks and then for the Packers MNF game in October. This summer is really clipping along but its been one of the best that I can remember in a long time. Hopefully it slows down a little bit because I have a feeling that the winters in CO are going to be mighty long.

Well, the big move has been made and I am finally starting to settle in to an entirely new situation...a situation that I never thought I would be in and one that I couldn't be happier about. Its weird moving halfway across the country. I feel like I've been spending too much time thinking about all that I am leaving behind instead of using that time and energy to search out new opportunities and adventures here in Colorado. For the first time in my life I have to throw myself into a completely foreign situation and trust that I know what I am doing.

I think it was just time to put things behind me for a while and get a fresh start, a fresh perspective, and a fresh outlook on life. Now that I have had some time to settle in, I realize that this was the right move and that some things in life are just worth taking a chance on. I have no idea how things are going to work out or if they will work out at all...one thing I do know is that I will have given it my best shot and that I won't look back and wonder, "what if".

If nothing else, I have come to appreciate those things that I miss from back home. Knowing that I cannot hop in the car and be at a buddies house or out on the lake in 10 minutes is a bummer but it also gives me something to look forward to when I head back. I just booked my LOTW trip for August and I am looking forward to spending some time on my favorite lake with my best friend in the world: my brother.

Well, thats enough rambling outta me for one night. Ive never done the blog thing before but its nice to be able to get some things off of my chest when sleep is hard to come by. I'm sure there will be more to come later.
